September saw Bob Stannells resign from the group and we welcomed new member Doug Don. It was becoming apparent that GOG would need some sort of Strategic Plan in place to keep us focused on achieving our goals. Patrick Moriarty, from Our Community was brought in again by the Gardiner Foundation, to do a seminar on this. We were approached by the Miranda sector from The Weekly Times, where Genevieve Barlow wrote an article about our group.
Here are a couple newspaper articles documenting our progress
In October we completed our strategic planning course and set to work with 3 applications for the Gardiner Foundation round of grants (which were a part of their Strengthening Small Dairy Communities Project). We were asked if a GOG member would like to join the assessment pannel, and Wendy Don took up this offer, which was a really great learning experience.
The end of 2012 saw GOG assist with 4 successful grants, including an Electronic Whiteboard for our group. Our total for 2012 was 8 successes out of 14 applications, bringing in a total of $25,106. This brought our Grand Total to $40,106 plus we assisted (with advice) in another $15,000 worth of successful grants.
